By using FrenchWrite you agree to these terms. They are intentionally short and plain. We want you to understand them, not just scroll past them.
Effective date: 12 May 2026Use FrenchWrite to practise writing in French. It's free, personal and educational. Don't scrape it, don't try to break it, and don't misrepresent it as your own product. We provide the tool as-is with no guarantees — use it at your own discretion.
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using FrenchWrite at frenchwrite.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the tool. These terms apply to all visitors, regardless of purpose or device.
2. Permitted and prohibited use
- Use FrenchWrite for personal language learning
- Use it in a classroom or educational context
- Share the URL with students, friends or colleagues
- Download and keep your own writing
- Use it to prepare for French language exams (TCF, TEF, DELF, DALF, etc.)
- Use it on any number of personal devices
- Scrape, copy or mirror the site's code or content without permission
- Redistribute or sell FrenchWrite, or present it as your own product
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile or exploit the tool
- Use automated bots or scripts to interact with the tool
- Use the tool in any way that violates applicable law
- Remove or obscure any copyright or attribution notice
3. Intellectual property
All code, design, text and assets on FrenchWrite are the property of FrenchWrite and are protected by applicable copyright law. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the tool for personal and educational purposes only.
The text you write in the editor is entirely yours. FrenchWrite makes no claim over any content you produce using the tool.
4. Disclaimer of warranties
FrenchWrite is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:
- The tool will be available at all times or free from interruption
- The tool will be free from errors or bugs
- Auto-saved data in localStorage will never be lost (browser data can be cleared by the browser or the user)
We recommend downloading your work regularly using the Download button as a safeguard against accidental data loss.
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, FrenchWrite and its creator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the tool — including but not limited to loss of data or loss of exam results.
6. Third-party services
FrenchWrite loads fonts from Google Fonts. Your use of Google's font delivery service is subject to Google's Terms of Service. FrenchWrite is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google, TCF, TEF, DELF, DALF or any examination body referenced on this site.
7. Modifications to the tool and these terms
We reserve the right to modify, suspend or discontinue FrenchWrite at any time without notice. We may also update these Terms of Use at any time. Changes take effect as soon as the revised page is published. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated accordingly. Continued use of FrenchWrite after a change constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of FrenchWrite shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of France.
